Re: Which memory card for Fantom X

Format the card in/with the Fantom, it will format the card and make some folders on it for you to place your stuff in. Once the stuff is in the right folders on the card, just reboot the Fantom.

Re: max SD-card memory for FX7

It's CF Card (Compact Flash) with the Fantom X, the max recomened size is 1Gb, but I do know that it will read upto 4Gb (as I have a 4gig card), but loading times are a lot longer longer as only 1 gig is recomended.

Re: Recommend a PC133 DIMM please

You should also look on eBay.co.uk for UK ONLY supplers. £50 is about right from Maplins and as the offer a refund you have nothing to losse. What I will say is that as far as retail stores (like Maplins-PC World PC Parts outlets) is that older style chips are getting expencive, i.e a 1 gb chip for ...

Do a search on the net for "Roland Fantom X Service Notes", you can find the whole service manual as a free PDF to help with taking it all apart.

Re: Best PCMCIA adapter and flashcard

I get all my CF Cards off eBay (eby.co.uk) from 8mb all the way up to 1GB, I don't use anything bigger than that, as the 4GB I have some times says it's full even when there's loads of space on it. As for the adaptors, again eBay UK.

Re: Best Sound Expansion Sets

Use the Library prog to back up your internal sound, then load then new ones to try out. When you find ones you like, make a note of them, reload the prog with your sounds and overwright the ones you do not like, with the new ones you do like and send the whole bank to the Fantom. Or make a new bank...

Re: Best Sound Expansion Sets

The Sinevibes set is very good value for money, 5 banks of sounds/samples and Ver.5 of the Tweek book can't be beaten on price. Now, here comes the tough bit, and it all depends on the type of sounds that you want. For me (and this is just my personal opinion) it was not a good buy, far from it as I...
