Can't you choose the split point to give more keys in the left hand (although 61 note keyboards aren't great for splits)? If you want to stay with Roland sounds, a Sonic Cell might be your best bet - not cheap but flexible and expandable.

Alternatively, the Korg Microstation is one hell of a sound module for the money + sequencer, arpeggiators etc.

I assume you have already checked it out just using headphones only. Does the sample buzz sound the same? Can you still hear the volume knob noise?

The black sparkle finish on my AX-09 is superb. Gives a real quality finish to the board (unlike Roland white IMO)
