You can choose from the main sequencer screen to output midi to internal, external, both or off.
Internal goes only to the fantom engine, external only to midi output.
Hope this helps

<t>halo7 : if i remember right, i used the knobs on the bcr2000 to control the filter cutoff and resonance of the fantom X.<br/> <br/> Lately i have been using the knobs to control any parameter that shows up in the modulation matrix screen of the Fantom. Re: Any External Device With Knobs Or Sliders To Tweak My Fa
<t>Lots of things can be connected to your fantom X.<br/> <br/> I use a behringer bcr2000 to control several things on the fantom. You might encounter some limitation sometimes but the fantom is very flexible in most aspects.<br/> <br/> I usually control 4-5 various parameters on a patch using knobs...

Re: Anyone able to record Virus TI sysex to seq?
<t>I had the same problem with older equipment like a yamaha tx81z and ensoniq ESQ1. My fantom just wouldn't record their sysex dumps. Turns out they just churn out one big sysex packet...<br/> <br/> I exchanged a few emails with Roland. They told me that an unofficial standard for sysex packets is ...

Re: Sequencer channel mutes via pads
<t>you can mute parts using the mixer in performance mode. You can't mute midi channels. Muting a part just seems to lower its volume to 0. The pads only mute internal parts. No luck if you want to mute midi data going to external gear.<br/> <br/> Hope this clears it up.<br/> <br/> Pad mute is on pa...

Re: Connecting all your midi gear together ?
<t>I am surprised to see nothing coming from smaller manufacturers. A lot of little manufacturers are currently producing sequencers. There's so many of those, genoqs, sequentix, signal arts, future retro, doepfer, manikin as well as all other synths with built in sequencers (jomox drum machines, el...

Connecting all your midi gear together ?
I am wondering how everyone is connecting all their gear together. I use an old roland a-880 midi patchbay to connect my stuff together. What do you use ? Let me know if you use a computer or not with your setup (i do not use a computer here)

Can you record with chained mfx processors ?
Like when you chain mfx1->mfx2 ?
So i could record external gear using a pitch shifter effect piped into a delay...

Re: recording sysex
Are you recording to your computer or directly in the fantom sequencer ?
I use the regular sequencer to backup my other gear via sysex. It works fine except when sysex packets are too big, then the fantom ignores those. Everything works fine on my side except my pre-1990 gear.

Re: Destroyed Fantom X7 for sale on ebay
<r>I listened to the downward spiral several times, i went to a show from the self destruct tour in 1993/1994. I like synths way too much to break any. In fact i'm in the process of getting all my older synths fixed. I still do not have a dx-7 and would gladly relieve trent from his collection of dx...

Re: Destroyed Fantom X7 for sale on ebay
<t>trent reznor is known to break yamaha dx7 in pieces. I really hate when people break gear on purpose. If they dislike their gear that much, they should give it to people who can't afford to buy gear.<br/> <br/> I wonder if that fantom still sort of works. It feels like a solid board. Rock solid c...

Re: Your Fantom X/S/6/7/8 !
<t>I use my fantom x as the center of my little studio. I sequence all of my tracks on it (except for other gear that has built-in sequencers). I use it as one of my main sound sources. I use it as an fx processor for other gear that i record into the fantom using the audio tracks. I sample and edit...
