Re: Anyone else using the A88?

Looking for a partner for the Integra? I paid $999 out the door, but I didn't make much effort to haggle. Thanks Bruce...seems expensive for a controller. Even a 88 key one I think I'll stick to my A-800 PRO and PCR-500 controllers for the time being ;-) P.S: I don't have an Integra yet...maybe one...

Re: Namn 2013, a Bust?

I'm actually glad nothing lustworthy come out. I can spend my money on Vintage Vibe's new Vibanet instead.

Re: Anyone else using the A88?

Wait time and lack of controllers... But if the VPC gets good reviews I will probably still get one.

Re: Anyone else using the A88?

I dont have an A88 but if its similar to the V Piano action i would agree with you that its a great action and would be nice to play JP80 sounds on. I dont own a V Piano but i did play on one for a couple of hours in a music store. The keybed action was great, it handled my complex playing with ver...

Anyone else using the A88?

Grabbed one last night and am pleasantly surprised. Keybed is good and really makes the pianos and EPs on the Jupiter more enjoyable to play for me.

Re: NAMM 2013 Rumours - new Roland Workstation?

Roland is not out of the game just yet, so we shouldn't write them off! Okay, this NAMM wasn't the time - but it will happen some time. The Fantom is still a fine instrument and in the meantime we have our existing Roland gear (V-Synth and JP-80 for me) to keep us inspired and creative. Who knows? ...

No, but looked it up and am very interested. Kawai makes killer actions.

Re: Weighted key Jupiter?

I guess we will know in a few days. If nothing new in the way of a weighted Jupiter or workstation comes out, I suppose the A88 will be in my future.

Re: JP80 - hugely disappointed with it.

I'd really doubt you can recreate the spectrum of sounds used in the last 50 years of music using just a Jupiter. I dunno Bruce let me tell ya you can get pretty close .... Closer then on any other shipping board IMHO. Remember you have in effect 30 oscillators to play with plus over 200 basic wave...

Weighted key Jupiter?

Anyone else think that corner pic on roland connect looks like a weighted key Jupiter? I was about to grab an A88 but if NAMM produces some iteration of the Jupiter in a weighted key package I may hold off and just get that. Any completely unsubstantiated pre NAMM rumors out there?

Re: JP80 - hugely disappointed with it.

If you are covering a broad spectrum of songs and want to replicate the sounds used in those songs, you are much better off with access to samples. Workstations would make a better choice for someone who has those needs. I don't know... maybe I'm a synth wizard or something - programming, certainly...

Re: JP80 - hugely disappointed with it.

Bruce, I'm still not suer what you're saying about the JP, cover bands and needing samples. If you mean flying in iconic trademark backing vocal parts or something, that's one thing. But as a synthesist, I think I could provide the sounds needed for most covers with a Trident or first gen Motif, le...

Re: JP80 - hugely disappointed with it.

Sample based instruments are far better for that kind of work... Which is why a board like the Kronos seems to be favored among the cover band crowd. Unless I'm mistaken, the Jupiters and Integra are half-sample based instruments. And while the Kronos is half-sample based too, it does have actual m...

Re: JP-80 Oboe

The Strymon pedals are all running from the line outs in stereo. They work great. The bottom pedals and a wah are running mono in the VV64 effects loop: An Empress ParaEQ, which I use as a boost and EQ to get the signal a little hotter when I want. A Voodoo Wahzoo on the floor for wah an autowah. An...
