Well if the use you gonna give to the mixer is the one i described befere, the answer is yes, the digital mixer is your best choice (i love analog mixers by how they sound ,but if you are working with digital you should avoid conversions). The problem with an analog mixer is the conversion to digital, i mean if you first sample something to the MV and then you wanna eq it with your analog mixer you would loose quality in the conversions digital to analog to go from the MV to the mixer, and then from analog to digital again to go insid...

The answer is resampling the instrument that has been aplied the effect. That way you can change the setting to aply another instrument anD again resample.
