If you have a dynamic mic - use you'r fantom input via spdif. Small and cheap mixer don't give to you any advantage in quality of recording.

5080 load patches from XP/JV, yes. But perfomances, i'm not sure. Fantom S/X don't have backward compability with JV/XP/XV.

But seriosly, too hard to get this type of sound design on workstation. Overcompressing and exellent FX automation - the tricks.

Knobs on Fanton S (don't know about Fantom X) mounted direct to PCB inside synth and don't fix on synth encloshure. Be carefull. I have problem here: when trensporting one of knobs lost their contact with PCB soldering.
