<t>Hi <br/> <br/> yep 880s are hard if not impossible to get. <br/> old midi patchers probably have slow chips, so the next best thing I was thinking should be high spec device which people take as defunct. only the UMs have the buttons, but some devices have memories but need programming via comput...

Re: V-Synth GT 2.0: Dan From Roland
actually PauloF.
all we have to do now is find out if the old Motu Timepiece AVs worked in stand alone.
I get the impression they do, and the old serial ones people don't even want anymore.
if you see my thinking.

<r>Hi. <br/> <br/> Midi cable is Fine.. <br/> <br/> I don't use a GT, but The technology is the same base technology as the XT etc. <br/> so if they solved it on one related to Midi over USB I would expect them to solve it for both. given they haven't solved it for the XT in a long time, it doesn't ...

Re: V-Synth GT 2.0: Dan From Roland
<t>Regarding V-Synth Clocking over USB. <br/> <br/> The V-Synth XT has certain Midi Clocking over USB too. after a lot of testing and experiences related to other USB issues. (not just V-Synth) I decided that for dead certain performance, I no longer use Midi over USB or Audio over USB. USB just is ...

Re: Juno-G Sample/Output Filtering Comparison
<t>lawndart Hi. <br/> <br/> Quote: <br/> Actually, it's probably not the output of the samples that is filtered - it's the input. Sample input has to be filtered before the input is fed to the analog-to-digital converter. If there was no filter before the ADC, any high frequency components above the...

Re: Juno-G Sample/Output Filtering Comparison
<r>dbijoux . <br/> <br/> <br/> Roland often use the AK4528 Chip. I have the spec sheets for this and it looks like the pre-emphasis pins are pins 20 & 21. This is what they use for the MV8000 and MMP2 for example. <br/> It's easier to find the spec sheets and see the filter characteristics in th...

Re: Juno-G Sample/Output Filtering Comparison
<t>Hi dbijoux. I just found this.. nice work. <br/> <br/> most people think that those hi frequencies don't matter because they don't hear them. <br/> well, in many cases they aren't listening closely enough.. those hi frequencies are what your drum transients live on. a transient is fast and fast =...

<t>Re: <br/> Quote. wudsiba <br/> This is something I've never quite been able to figure out. Re: A question about Fantom X's playback engine
<t>No No No.. <br/> <br/> don't Normalize and then emphasize.. in fact when you resample make sure you do it at -12db. The emphasis EQ curve is a 12 db boost starting at around 4000k. if you normalize anything with a lot of high frequencies (like a Hi Hat) and then add emphasis you will clip the hig...

Re: Less quality importing samples
<r>The industry stopped using emphasis back in the 80s. Roland use it because their Library samples are legacy back to then and they used the emphasis scheme back then. <br/> so they have to have de-emphasis set on the outputs of many of their devices. not all but many. The V-Synths doesn't de-empha...

Re: "Pre" or "De" after resampling?
<t>The pre-emphasis scheme in Rolands normally boosts the highs about +10 db after about 4000Hz. so if the file is normalized before you add pre-emphasis and the sound has a lot of highs you will be clipping like crazy. The only way to compensate for that is to make sure that you record at -10db or ...

Re: Audio Issue
<t>This doesn't make sense. <br/> <br/> Rolands usually have de-emphasis active on the output stage. like on the MV8XXX and the MC909. This basically Rolls off highs, thats why you need to emphasize the samples...because they are de-emphasized on the outputs. <br/> <br/> if the sound is transferring...
