You were right. Ableton live sends Program Change 1 by default.

I tested the same MIDI using the SonicCell as the MIDI output. I chose piano for part 1/channel 1 and the MIDI played fine. Something must be wrong with the AX-Synth midi configuration

The rythm sets following the Midi Standard have GM Standard in their name

Great suggestions!! The SonicCell seems so cool!! But the ipod adapter is much more affordable.
