Re: master volume pedal

The problem then arises that, if only using Performances, I cannot change quickly enough from one Performance to the other during a song. On some songs I flit between three Performances. This would be too clumsy and risky if I had to dial or index to the next desired Performance. The Favourite banks...

Re: master volume pedal

The 'big deal' is apparent if you play live on stage and store your song compilations in the 'Favourite' banks. Every time you change Favourites, the next one comes in at full volume when using an EV-5 pedal, until you move the pedal a bit. Obviously no two patches are identical in volume level but ...

Re: master volume pedal

Recent suggestions relating to 'Patch Remain' made me re-check my own settings but I found that I had already set 'Patch Remain On'. So, out of curiosity, I re-connected my EV-5 pedal and tried again, trying both CC7 and CC11 expression setting. Changing 'Patches' up or down worked fine. The volume ...

Re: Brass Fall Patch in Preset

Just as a quick guide, if I need brass riffs in songs I usually select one or more of the following patches and blend them as needed, saving them as a User Performance. I use varying degrees of level, reverb, pitch, attack, resonance etc. The mix choice depends on the needs of the song. I usually de...

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what do you mean by "fall" patch?

Re: master volume pedal

I struggled trying to make the EV-5 pedal work satisfactorily as a master volume pedal but got exactly the same symptoms that you are getting. It is unrelated to Patch Remain. Every time you change patches, performances or favourites, the volume shoots up to maximum, until you move the pedal by the ...

Re: Piano Mode volume issues

I am pleased that you found an improvement in piano cut by using +42 sensitivity. You might be able to reduce the sensitivity of the layered brass by individually adjusting the "velocity sens" of that part, whilst still leaving the global sensitivity at around +42. Go into the User Perform...

Re: Piano Mode volume issues

The type of amplification equipment you use on stage also has a huge influence on the sound. I use two Roland KC550's, running in stereo plus two more stereo signals blended through the PA system at a lower volume level, to give a nice spread. The KC550 gives a bright sound which also help to cut th...

Re: Piano Mode volume issues

I constructed a User Tab by blending four patches and then storing it on its own User number. I also added this to my Favourite bank and call it up whenever I need a piano sound with more grunt and attack. IT IS ALSO ESSENTIAL, every time you switch on, to go into Menu / System / Keyboard Control / ...

Re: Juno stage-keys playing double notes

Does this happen will most patches/performances? When you say 'double', does this mean that pressing any key once will produce a sound as if you has hit the key twice? Or are you hearing an echo-type sound? It might be worth simply doing a factory reset i.e. - Menu - 4. Utility - Factory Reset. Back...

Re: NEED HELP FOR NEWBIE PLEASE , PATCH REMAINING

This time delay / cut in sound whilst changing from one patch or performance to another is something that has irritated JS users since the keyboard was launched. Several posts refer to it (search the archives) but there is no fix. We have to adapt our playing style to minimise the cut in sound, eith...

Re: Not many people on this forum experiment much

Hi PaulLav79 Layering and splitting. The Roland manual and indeed most video ads of this keyboard, imply that splits are easily achieved simply by the press of the split button. This is correct only if you have 2 sounds (patches etc) in use. But the JS can run with 16 parts, any or all of which can ...

Re: Help for a newbie!

I am also interested in advice on this subject for exactly the same reasons that you have listed. I agree that the manual does not give adequate information on how to do this. It is not clear to me whether the CC is linked to each Performance or is a System general setting. Judging from the impact n...

Re: system change not saving

This is a fascinating, if worrying, thread. Chrisk-K says his OS 1.02 saves system settings correctly, whereas my OS 1.03 definitely does not. A3-jan advises that 1.04 is an upgrade for Roland techs and not an OS update. FanTc has been told that the latest OS is 1.04 but a new one is in the pipeline...
