Re: Juno-G Sample/Output Filtering Comparison
<t>MV, we're in agreement. What I originally thought dbijoux was comparing was: <br/> <br/> signal direct from the function generator to the spectrum analyzer <br/> vs. <br/> signal sampled via the Juno-G's inputs, then played back through Juno-G outputs to the spectrum analyzer <br/> <br/> What he ...

Re: Juno-G Sample/Output Filtering Comparison
<t>Actually, it's probably not the output of the samples that is filtered - it's the input. Sample input has to be filtered before the input is fed to the analog-to-digital converter. If there was no filter before the ADC, any high frequency components above the Nyquist frequency (sampling rate/2) w...

Re: Tips & tricks on "copy" patches from another synth
<t>If you find you're having trouble getting the same sound with the Juno-G's stock waveforms you could use the sampling feature of the Juno-G, either sampling a whole phrase played on the Jx305 or, alternately, sampling the basic waveforms of the Jx305 as loops (dry, without any filters or LFO appl...

"You can move a single note or phrase anywhere you want in Micro Edit."
I know you can move an individual note in the microscope screen, but I didn't know you could select more than one note and move them together in the microscope. How do you do that?

Re: Okay a few questions from a new Roland Juno G owner
<t>jpq - You're right. It is 44100. I was basing my calculations on what you actually get when you step record a whole note (gated at 100%) at 120 bpm and then mixdown. The sampling screen says you have 88220 samples, but this is because the Juno-G inserts silence at the beginning and sets the start...

Re: Okay a few questions from a new Roland Juno G owner
<t>2) Unaltered, the keyboard has 4MB of RAM. 4*1024*1024=4194304 bytes. The sampling rate of the keyboard is 44110 Hz. The bit depth for each sample is 16 bits, or 2 bytes. So, without adding additional memory, the Juno-G can store (4194304/44110)/2=47.5 seconds of mono audio. Divide by two and you...

MichaelB - his first post says he's using a 1GB DIMM in his Juno-G also.

I think I have something passably decent now. Still need to tweak it some to get exactly what I want, but it's getting closer now. Thanks, everybody!

Re: Reliable Vendor for RAM
@rhodespiano - That's cool that the Juno-G recognizes your 1GB DIMM. Have you confirmed that it really allows you to use all of that memory? In other words, have you tried recording more than 102 minutes 13 seconds of mono (or 51 minutes 7 seconds of stereo) audio with it?

Re: booming bass/sub bass
<t>@I AM - Yeah, it does sound better with something more complex than a sine for the self-oscillating filter approach. A TVF can't really do anything interesting to a pure sine wave because it's just a single frequency. <br/> <br/> My current approach is to try to figure out just exactly what the r...

booming bass/sub bass
I'm trying to figure out how to make bass/sub bass hits on the Juno-G and am having some difficulty. I googled around and found a few suggestions, but haven't had much success. One forum post suggested setting an oscillator to sine and use the pitch envelope to bend the pitch up or down a bit. This ...

Re: Protecting your hearing while editing patches
<t>From when I used to DJ for a small FM radio station, I remember that the station used a compressor/limiter in the signal path to provide good reception for the listeners without exceeding the FCC-mandated limits on our power output. However, my understanding of how compression works and what the ...

Re: Audio-in: used to input commercial CD tracks for playin
<t>I know that the Juno-G is capable of timestretching audio, but I haven't personally used that feature yet. The main takeaway point is that you don't have to waste time to record the audio or waste space on your flash card saving the whole song just so you can practice playing along with it at nor...
