Re: Original Roland VS880 and Fantom X

i have a vs1880 with fantom s. works great. using the digital in on the 1880 with the fantom is even better. the effects on the vs machines are very good and gives you lots of options when used with the fantom.

Re: can't wait for Fantom Z, buying XS

<t>i agree with artemio. the ability to expand your soundset and layer and edit waveforms gives you the opportunity to make the fantom sound the way you want it to sound. the ui took a while to get use to but after while got easier. i think whatever workstation you get wether it be fantom, motf, xs,...

Re: Praise the Fantom X/S

in my opinion the best all around workstation. i have the s and it's crazy how i can make quality music on this thing using only about 30% of it's features. 4 expansion slots and waveform editing allows you to really get creative with sounds.

Re: Does anyone use stock drum kits?

<t>one more thing. if you haven't done so you can also set up your mastering effect and mfx so they are built around your drums. i always work in performance mode and i use low boost, eq, and limiter as my three mfx and i make sure to get a good sound out of my drums first and work the other sounds ...

Re: Does anyone use stock drum kits?

<t>"your input on srx-5 drum kits is very much appreciated. thank you!"<br/> <br/> i think the drums sounds on the srx-5 are pretty good. the 808 kits are much better than the stock ones on my fs. for hip hop i think some of the drum sounds may be a little thin on it's own but theres a ton of drum s...

Re: Does anyone use stock drum kits?

<t>i just bought srx-5 and srx-9 and i still use the stock drums sounds from my fantom s. i don't use the preset drums kits though. i go into waveform and create my own kicks and snares by layering different waveforms together. it may take a while to build up your own drums kits but i think it's fun...

Re: external in

<t>i think you have to be in patch mode or performance mode to access the menu. i don't think you can get the menu in sampling mode. just hit the patch/rhythm button or hit mixer button. once your in patch or performance mode then hit the menu button. once your done setting things up just go back to...

Re: Acoustic Guitar Question.

thanks for the advice dog. i think i'm gonna go ahead and pick one up. i'm already exited about it knowing that learning to play won't be too difficult. realistic guitars are becoming a must and i've been using synth guitars for years. it will be nice to be able to use the real thing.

Acoustic Guitar Question.

<t>for a while i've been wanting to buy an expansion board with good acoustic guitar sounds or just sample some but now i'm thinking about just buying an acoustic/electric guitar and just learn to play. i'll probably get a more realistic sound this way than using sampled waves. my question is how di...

Re: MC-808, big brother or little brother?

i think overall it's little brother. surely by looking at it it's definately. i think the 909 looks cooler with all the knobs and faders. the only thing i like about the 808 is the 128 note polyphony. other than that i would rather have the 909. the motorized faders are cool but there are far more i...

Re: Fantom for Hip Hop?

yeah if your willing to get your hands dirty and experiment with layering and editing waveforms and effects believe me, you can come up with new sounds that will allow you to take hip hop into the future and become a trendsetter. all you need is to learn the fantom and use your imagination.

Re: arpeggio tempo question.

<t>yeah it looks like my only choice is to use the slicer effect in the mfx. i was messing around with it today and it does exactly what i want it to do. say i play a choir type chord with aaahs in it. i can use the slicer to chop it up so it goes something like ah ah ah ah instead of a drawn out ch...

arpeggio tempo question.

i was wondering if it was possible to change the tempo of the arpeggio for a part without changing the tempo of the overall song. say i use the arpeggio to chop a synth sound and i want to use the tempo to speed up or slow down the arpeggio.
