Disable Sustain Pedal?
Hi guys. Long time no see. Anyway I'm interested in the J50. What I need to do, and can't find in the J80 owner's manual, is disable sustain pedal for a tone or a live set. This is because I need to play bass from the lower live set (with no sustain), while playing piano or similar from the upper li...

Re: J80 Price - Ouch!
Wow, I feel like a VIP. This thread I started a while ago is still near the top of the list w/ over 100 replies. Anyway I'm still interested in the Jup. I can handle the synth keyboard if it feels solid. Definitely gonna want to hear how it does piano, Rhodes & strings. Ya know, the basics. From...

Re: J80 Price - Ouch!
Look it's maybe the best virtual analog (sample based or not) synth I've heard. But for $3500 US if it can't load user samples, then it seems not a good value. Put it in a rack with a touchscreen (I guess that'd have to be a 3 spacer) for $1995 and I'll be much more interested. And make it look like...

J80 Price - Ouch!
$3500??? Doesn't even play user samples? Ouch! I mean it sounds outstanding for a non-analog. Even if it makes its "analog" via samples as Artimy has stated, it still sounds great. But in this day $3500 can buy you a helluva lot more sound and sequencing power than what I'm seeing in the s...

Re: Official Roland Jupiter 80 Info Up
Looks like the RolandConnect info is the only "official" Roland info up currently. Going to rolandus redirects to the RolandConnect page. Looking forward to a full complement of videos and audio demos. #jupiter80 sounding great so far!

Re: Jupiter-80 videos
Howard Jones has a video on the RolandConnect site as well as part of the "official" JP80 release info. Sounds great.

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Continuing on watching the HJ video. It's about the sound baby and this thing is NOT disappointing! When it comes to analog synths I go with the gut - how does it make me feel? This thing is making me feel real good.

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Watching the Howard Jones video. Coming off my MacBookPro the thing sounds really good. Maybe not analog, but psychically pleasing. This quality of synth makes me again ask the question: If pop producers in the early 80s had the choice between this and say a "real" JP8, both EQd and effect...

Re: Keyboard magazine leak
Real simple: Real analog is real analog. It sounds uniquely organic. It can't be copied or modeled. When it is, it's always gonna be a compromise. Otherwise Dave Smith Instruments et al wouldn't be selling so much product. For a rompler I think the "G" sounds quite "analog" when ...

Roland missed the "train"
<t>I have this philosophy in life - there are a few key "trains" which you need to "catch". Miss them and you are never able to "catch up", no matter how hard you work. I have been a Roland loyalist for many years. But this was the year they needed to have the successor to the "G". Combined with Kor...

Re: NAMM 2011 rumors and news.
Just received a tweet of a picture from Roland US. A (real) Jupiter 8 arrived at their headquarters. I feel a tie-in coming. This could only be good.

Re: NAMM 2011 rumors and news.
<t>One thing for sure, they will have plenty which they define as "new". Whether we the users or the press agree is another story. I will be disappointed to see them still hawking the Fantom-G. It's had its time. It's time to move on. Over the last decade Roland has fallen farther behind in being cu...

Re: NAMM 2011 rumors and news.
<t>As always I'd like to see something in a rack version. The last pro Roland workstation to be racked was believe it or not the Fantom-XR (which I own). I'd like to see a Fantom-G refresh w/ newer, more and better orchestral samples, Flash memory (like the Motif XF), and at least 8 multitimbral VA ...
