usb MIDI (stupid?!) question - sorry !
<t>Hi<br/> <br/> I have searched for an answer to what seems a really simple question so will have to defer to your wisdom please...<br/> <br/> Can the usb port on the Fantom X be used to convey MIDI information directly to a V Synth XT ? <br/> It is not clear to me whether the usb port needs to be ...

Re: pad transmits midi
<t>Thank you for your response and sorry if my post was in any way confusing but you have indeed answered my question.<br/> This confirms what I thought was the case which still seems a littele surprising for an otherwise well specified keyboard.<br/> I will have to workround this on my external mod...

pad transmits midi
<t>Hi,<br/> A while since I have posted (went off on a wild Virus tangent - and not come back!!!) so apologies for the dumb question that follows...<br/> <br/> Is there no way of stopping the "Rhythm" transmitting over midi and just letting keyboard info get to external modules?<br/> <br/> I would l...

Re: PC CARD = PCMCIA card?
<t>The card slot on the XT is purely for accessing flash memory be that compact flash, smart media or whatever. It uses a PCMCIA carrier (obtain one to suit your chosen flash memory format) to adapt various flash memory formats. <br/> The XT does not have (AFAIK) any host intelligence to deal with o...
Re: XT freeze
I guess there are very occasional circumstances in software where a cpu halt is a possible outcome. Tried to replicate the same conditions but couldn't get another freeze.
Not ideal, possibly to be resolved in a future o/s update hopefully. Worth publicising for that reason alone.

XT freeze
Just to note that I had my XT lock up for the first time during use of VC2.
Not really making too much of this and probably a one off as have had many hours of use without any problem whatsoever.

Re: what a game
<t>My XT has new os (2.02) plus v1 sound set courtesy of Cromio. There is no problem with doing this versus the kb. Cromio has done the work for us (- thanks !)<br/> <br/> For me the V1 patches are by far the most suitable soundset but I added favourites from V2 to this and have not run out of prj s...

Re: Intermittent noise with XT
<t>Can't say that sounds familiar. <br/> The only extraneous noise I have noticed is during VC2 card use where some of the patches result in un-gated digital noise. Turn the MFX off and the noise goes also. Others have noticed this so a minor design flaw.<br/> <br/> Suggest turning off MFX anyway an...

Re: I like the sounds in 1.41...but
Thanks Cromio !
finally access to "let them pray" ! Hooray !
I think I prefer a lot of the V1 stuff over the V2.
This is the best of both worlds.
cheers.

Re: I like the sounds in 1.41...but
Cromio,
Count me in too if you be so kind ! Use sb1#blackpool.ac.uk (replace # with normal "at" as normal) please.
That would be great as there are several patches in there I long for.
cheers.

Re: Touch screen. Normal or not?
<t>Donna,<br/> I was similarly briefly concerned about the response on my Vsynth XT rapdily came to the conclusion that this is normal. A small amount of practice (familiarisation really) seems to have really helped. For really fine work use a blunt soft stylus.<br/> Just not perfect but agood enoug...

Re: Noisy output
Hmmm. Well if you wind up the output and amp (and nearly wreck your speakers accidentally!) I can hear a bit of something on some patches after a note has been played and decayed . eg V-screamer. Seems to come from the fx section - try turning MFX1 off and see whether that helps.

I will have another listen tonight and see if I can hear anything. It doesn't seem noisier than any other average piece of kit tho'.
