Noob Midi Controller Question

I'm apologizing in advance for this 'noob' question, but I've googled anything I could think of and I'm just not coming up with anything. Honestly, I'm probably just lacking the terminology. So here's my softball question: I have 2 Roland keyboards that I currently use (depending on whether I'm at h...

Re: Midi Connection Issue with Reason 7 / Fantom X8

Well it's definitely newer than my Fantom S at home :-) But I actually have some time tonight here at the house to try the Hosa cable with my home rig (in hopes to isolate the problem). If I still have issues, then I'll know it's probably the cable. If it works perfectly, then I'll know it's either ...

Midi Connection Issue with Reason 7 / Fantom X8

This question could've been answered elsewhere, but I honestly was having troubling knowing exactly what to search for. So I appreciate your patience..... I just recently bought my first Macbook Pro (I've built my own PC in the past), and today I was trying to connect it to my Roland Fantom X8 and B...

Re: Help plz: Fantom X8, Soft Synths, & Creating Patches/Sm

Btw, I recently downloaded the Fantom-editor and am LOVING how it works with my PC and Sonar. I can't wait to really dive into this, as well as the Tweakbook! Thanks all!

Re: Help plz: Fantom X8, Soft Synths, & Creating Patches/Sm

After a lot of research and weighing the pros and cons, I think I'm leaning more towards the manipulation & creation of sounds just using the Fantom for my live performances. (Now I have to dive a little deeper into the Fantom's editing capabilities.) From the feedback I've heard from others, re...

Re: Help plz: Fantom X8, Soft Synths, & Creating Patches/Sm

Thank you! And yes, I do apologize. I do get a little impatient when I'm working on projects and researching, and I still can't find an answer. It doesn't help that I feel so ignorant when I feel I should know the answers to these simple questions. Yes, that software might be a good solution! Would ...

Help plz: Fantom X8, Soft Synths, & Creating Patches/Smpls

Alright, I'm hoping that I can clearly explain what my question is. So let me start by stating what I'm looking for, along with what I hope my end result will be. The problem is that even though I've been using midi/workstations for YEARS, I'm still very much ignorant when it comes to creating patch...

Re: Midi Foot Pedal

If I could 'upvote' you and Royce, I totally would. :-) You guys are AWESOME! I know on other forums they have point systems and what-not that can be 'awarded' to those who devote their time and energy to intelligent/helpful replies. Great ideas! I've been Googling EPROM chips and seeing if I can ac...

Re: Midi Foot Pedal

So I talked with a Roland rep, as I'm trying to get a better understanding of codes and the real-time messages used within the Fantom midi. I would like someone to tell me if I'm understanding this right: Using the 'control' 1/4" out jack on the back of the X8, you can assign several different ...

Re: Midi Foot Pedal

(Wow, I love this forum!) @ Royce: To answer your question, yes. However, that's the very least I would want to be able to do. I would be content with that for starters, but then I'd like to see what else was available -- i.e. fade in/out, loops, etc. Oh yeah! I would REALLY like to be able to click...

Re: Midi Foot Pedal

Well crap! I definitely don't know as much as I thought! (That's always the case -- the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know) I had no idea I could copy an entire sequence/song (some are fairly complex) to an RPS 'pattern'. I guess I just assumed that the the RPS function was only for assig...

Re: Midi Foot Pedal

No, I wouldn't be using the RPS function. I usually will create a whole sequenced track that adds depth and color to the whole (song). It can include strings, B3, pads, brass hits, etc. -- anything that can spice up the band a little bit. (A Click is always added as well that goes directly to our in...

Midi Foot Pedal

I did a search through the forum and was unable to come up with any topic that covered my question. (The closest I came was using a pedal to trigger samples.) I'm a worship minister & professional musician and I have come to LOVE the use of click tracks and sequences over the past couple of year...

Re: Loading .wav files / using as patches

Great, thanks! Let me give that a shot and see what I come up with. I think I've already tried what you suggested, but I'll let you know what I find out.
