Re: JUNO-G and Windows 8

This looks promising... http://laslow.net/2012/03/14/disable-driver-signature-enforcement-in-windows-8/ I'll report back after I try it. ETA: SUCCESS! I did as the above post suggested using bcdedit to disable checking of the driver installation signature and it worked. - In a command prompt (or pow...

Re: JUNO-G and Windows 8

I was afraid somebody was going to beat me to this.

Yeah, later today I installed 64-bit Win8 and got the same result as you.

It did work with 32-bit Win8. I presumed it would work with 64-bit until I tested it. :(

JUNO-G and Windows 8

*** DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO YOUR SYSTEM OR JUNO-G IF YOU FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS *** I just installed Windows 8 32-bit on my DAW machine and went to install the Windows 7 Juno-G driver on it. Unfortunately the installer would not allow installation o...

Re: Sonar LE drivers for W7

Make sure you register your Sonar 4 LE on Cakewalk's site. You may be able to get a free or cheap upgrade to the latest version; especially if you are having difficulty with your current version. They'd probably rather you have the latest version than try to support a 4 generations old version. Cont...

Re: JUNO-G + SONAR: Record to Juno-G audio track?

Ah. Yes. I see.

I knew I was going to have to transfer it back to the PC to transcode it to MP3. I just didn't know how to record the sound generator output into an audio track. Resample looks like the trick.

Thx.

JUNO-G + SONAR: Record to Juno-G audio track?

Thanks for all the help with the MIDI file on Cakewalk SONAR and the Juno-G. So now I want to make a recording of the MIDI file to MP3 using the Juno-G as the sound generator. I don't have a USB audio interface yet so I just tried taking the headphone output of the Juno-G into the mic/line input on ...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

I just noticed that too and was about to post. <forehead slap> It looks like this file was taken from another file that had the drums both on channel 10 and individually on Channels 11-16 that somebody then merged 11-16 back into 10 not realizing they were doubling the drum hits. That version of the...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

Thanks Pap. I'll give Frinika a try. I hadn't heard of that one. I have Anvil Studio (also free) but I haven't tried it with the Juno-G yet. As for an instrument definition file, you can create one for the factory setup at Roland's web site. http://www.rolandus.com/support/patch_script_builder/index...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

I tried it again. This time I didn't send the sysex data but it is still doubling channel 10. The sysex data has only one command; turn on GM mode. Examining the event list for channel 11, there is a bunch of CC121, a volume setting, a pan setting, and a program change event; no note events. So I tr...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

OK. Did as you said. I put the JG into Performance mode. Loaded the MIDI file in Sonar. It asked me if I wanted the SysEx data to be sent to the synth; to which I said Yes. And then when I play it, the drums (and only the drums) are doubled. I can tell because the hats have a phased sound to them an...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

As a follow-up question. To what "Instrument" should I map the Juno-G too? General MIDI, Roland GS, or the definition file I created with Roland's online tool? I know this is basic stuff, but Sonar is way more complex than Cakewalk used to be and its been 10+ years since I really messed wi...

Re: JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

OK. I will try the above suggestions when I get home tonight. One other thing I forgot to mention is that my Juno-G is still the last 1.0x revision. I have not updated to 2.0 yet. Don't know if that has any bearing on it. When I first set it up, I didn't manually set any parts on the JG. I just sele...

JUNO-G + Cakewalk SONAR 8.5LE = Doubled drums

In the 3 years I've had my Juno-G I haven't really tried using it with Sonar until now. I updated to Sonar 8.5LE and now have a project to try with it. Prior to that, my experience with a DAW was with the DOS version of Cakewalk (3.0?) back in the 90's with my Roland D-10 and an MPU-401. It wasn't c...

Re: Septimo - "the workstation is dead"

<t>"I think, if Roland would have not named this the Gi, so much of this confusion could have been avoided. Instead of wondering, "is the workstation dead," we'd simply say the Juno-Gi is not a workstation at all. I wonder, is the state of the Fantom the more ominous question on all of our minds. " ...
