Well, on default my Fantom XR was set to MIDI Mode, have you changed the synth to storage mode in the system setup otherwise your Computer wants MIDI Drivers. Other than that I believe Windows ME comes with the needed drivers, you might have to install them from your Windows ME disk...

Unless you're still working with an older Windows Version like 98SE...
