Juno-DS 61 Performance mode

Post by Rockwell »

Hello everyone. I owned a couple of Roland keyboards until now. The Juno-DS is my third one. Up until the DS ,the "Performance mode" was easy to access. Everytime I pressed the "Perform" button , the DI went straight for the user tones I have saved.

Now, on the DS, I have to press the Patch/Perform and then navigate with the cursor keys to a very little setting on the screen and change it from "PRST" to "User". So in total there are 4-5 additional moves, plus finding the required saved preset.

Does anyone know if I can program it to jump straight to the user presets ? I looked in the manual but it seems not. Also, the "Phrase Pads" are a no go, they have predefined "shortcuts".

Thanks.

I'm in the habit of just hitting the Performance button then using the dial to zoom up to my saved ones.
It's not terribly efficient but it's the quickest way I know, aside from an external MIDI patch change message being sent (ie from ForScore app on a MIDI-connected iPad).

Why don't you use the Favourite hotkeys?

Yes, you could make Favorite #0 equal to User Performance #1. Then it's a cinch to get there when you start up, and you can navigate from there.

Thanks for the advice. Although it's more complicated to save and write through the banks, once it's done it's decent. I still miss the simplicity of a single Performance button though.......

In addition to the performance selection process, I'm also baffled as to why when selecting a performance, the name of the performance patch is in tiny characters but the tones that make up the performance are large?

Is there a way to just have the name of the performance show up in the larger font as a default?

I've owned a Juno G for a few years but very new to the DS. (I have a DS76)
