FA-07 as a sound module controlled by Auria Pro on iPad

Post by taggart »

Hey, everybody!
I'm trying to set up my FA07 to be controlled by my iPad running Auria Pro. I created a Studio Set in the FA07, created a sequence, exported a SMF and imported that SMF into Auria Pro. Connected USB out from the iPad and into the FA. Everything looked good. I'm not using any of the internal Auria sounds. I'm just looking for Auria on the the iPad to use the sounds in the Studio Set of the FA07.
When I played the MIDI file back from Auria to the FA, I was getting stuck notes, notes that were way out of time, and notes that wouldn't sound at all.
I then moved the USB out from the iPad to the USB in on my Juno Stage. Everything worked fine. All the parts played (although, I didn't have anything set up, sound-wise, it was in performance mode).
Just wondering if anyone has any insights as to what settings on the FA07 might be causing the chaos. Thru settings? Local On/Off setting? MIDI settings? I feel like I've checked them all over, at least twice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, so much!

Let me ask if the answer could be this: Would the connection, in this case, require a powered hub between the iPad and the FA-07? I had an ah-ha moment and ordered a powered hub just to find out. I’ve been using just a USB cable alone. I guess we’ll know, soon!

Bingo! It was because I wasn't using a powered USB-C hub! Yay! Problem solved!
