Hi guys,
Sorry for the no doubt ridiculous question but im struggling to find any info on this so i thought id ask here...
I played the piano from 3 till 15 and have DJ'd as a hobby from 18 till 38 (originally vinyl but now Serato). I listen to most styles of music but the favs are modern classical, Ambient techno, and Detroit Techno and everything in between.
I have a daughter who is 3 and i need to get back into music in some way or another (outside of just listening).
Id love to buy her (and me) a keyboard that also has the potential to integrate ambient/electronic noises/beats.
Im a complete "keyboard" novice having always played on a proper upright piano.
How do i best go about combining the piano with electronic music? Id love to be able to play the piano again (classical) while having the option to add a 909 punch as well as an ambient touch.
I cant see myself settling for anything less than a 88 key keyboard. But am open to an octave shorter...(maybe)
Is there a keyboard that is a quality "piano" that can also integrate with my "electronic" requirements? Do i need to add a TR-8s to a keyboard to achieve this? Or will a certain keyboard suffice?
I have a spare set of Adam A7xs which ill be hooking into.
Budget is flexible as im in no rush and happy to buy 2nd hand (max $3k approx (australian)
Thanks for any info
Peace

Keyboard & TR-8 novice
Re: Keyboard & TR-8 novice
Not a ridiculous question - we all have different backgrounds/approaches/tastes/capabilities/objectives and the difficulty is not the question but the answer!
It strikes me that one of the FA series might fit the bill for you (06, 07 or 08). They are all exactly the same apart from keybed/keboard size. If you want a piano feel, then the 08 would be best as it's action is closest to a piano. The other two are 'synth' keybeds.
The FA has an amazingly simple sequencer (that can do a lot of complex things if you want it to), so you could do create drum sequences as per the 909, and play/record either techno sounds or piano - along with 100s of ambient pads. There are also 100s more sounds that you can download for the FA at Roland's Axial site - all for free.
Worth having a look and within your budget too

Thanks for the response
