MC-909 Owners Question???

Post by Dr. Who »

Are the drums on the MC-909 mapped similar to the drums on the MC-808? Meaning do they NOT follow standard GM? This has been a very frustrating issue with the 808. It makes sequences with drums only MC-808 applicable unless you get into external midi. I'd dump the 808 for a 909 if this was the case. Even the 505 followed GM standard, very frustrating... aside from that the Roland sequencers (505, 808) are pure heaven.

REPLY TO DR. WHO:
you probably know this by now: yes, the 808 and 909 drumsets are mapped in their own proprietary way, no matching whatsoever with GM standards. This is very annoying and unconvenient, but there is nothing you can do about it, because, it appears, even remapping a drumkit in GM standards isn't really possible.
