Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
Powerful “Fantom-X-quality” sound engine, 128-voice polyphony.
So thats not the Fantom S , which in turn was the original comment ... that the Juno G was the same as the Fantom S.
The Juno-G accomplishes this quality with the use of the new WX Chip. So yes you have the quality of the Fantom X. There are alot of new patchs that are new to the Juno-G as well.
Hope that helps.

Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
Please re-read my post. I am stating that all of the literature I've found points to the Juno-G sharing the chip/sound-generating architecture with the Fantom-X.
I mention the Fantom-S in that the Juno-G appears to have in common with it the wave ROM, which is also that of the Fantom Xa and the "A" bank of the Fantom-Xs. However the Juno-G does appear to have new acoustic piano samples, so either something was left out to make room for them, or there is more than 64 meg of internal wave ROM samples on the Juno-G.
Regarding the WX chip you mention, please advise as to where I can find information about it. I can find it no where in the Roland literature, either Roland US or Roland Worldwide.
Are you a Roland rep? Whether or not, please post links to where I can find out about this WX chip you mention.
Thank you.

You probably wont see any lit right now , that has the info about the WX Chip there using in it. Im sure once it ships there will be new lit for it. If you were able to attend the NAMM show we actually talked about it there , its not a big deal so dont stress on it.

Mike Acosta& MC-808
Hey Mike.
I know you did some demo's on the Mc 808,i thought i would ask you here in this field since you have not posted anything on it at the MC 909,808 field. What kind of sounds can i expect from the MC 808? I was going to get the MC 909,but wanted to see if the MC 808 is a better choice along with the Juno G. I know it has the best sounds from the MC 909, but is there current, fresh radio ready drum kits in it like,Kanye West
like samples,Scott Storch,Lil Jon and Just Blazz just to name a few.I do alot of Urban gospel music with r&b feel to it. Iam hoping that this MC 808 would be the ticket,so give a brotha a Holla!

Hey Lelo
Actually i have posted alot of info about the MC-808 right here :
http://forum.fantomized.info/?p=show&ac ... &page=last
It does have alot of new hip hop drum kits that are very mainstream. Keep in mind though that alot of stuff you hear from producers like kanye , is all custom made kits , they do alot of sampling and layering to create those drums with some grit n smack. But the MC-808 will set you off in the right direction. You cant go wrong with either or ( 909 or 808 )
If you have anymore questions about the MC-808 post them at the link i gave you above so that it doesnt get lost or cluttered in this field about the Juno-G.

Juno G
Mike A,
This is my first post back on this forum since selling my Fa-76 over two years ago. I'm looking at the juno g and if the action is pro feeling (or at least not xp-50 bad) I'll probably get it. Can you inform us about anything we all might not be able to see on-line or on the roland demo dvd please?
Thanks a lot -
How's it going Artemio? remember me? c'mon there's only a few thousand others on here now right? Bob (alias: Slargthorb)

Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
Although it would be nice if it did, it just can't imagine how the Juno-G is going to have a better keybed than the Xa, which is more expensive ...
The Juno-G doesn't have aftertouch ... so my prediction is that it's precisely the same keybed as the Xa, which means, sucko.
Honestly, if you're wanting a Fantom ... save up and get the real deal ... one of the nicer things about the Fantom X compared to most other workstations out there, is the quality of the keybed ... light and fast but with just enough substance ...
My viewpoint is ... if you're REALLY going to be using this thing, then the time you put into it is going to vastly outweigh the time spent saving up/paying off the difference between the two boards ...
I originally got an Xa -- because I THOUGHT that's all I could afford -- but when I realized how much I'd be using it (and I was right) I returned it and found a way to swing the X7 (although I admit, the Xa being only 61 keys and not having a decent piano ("So True" as a solo piano? Blech! Although it can sound good in a mix whereas Ultimate Grand may have too many harmonics/nuances for the good of the track).
Good luck!

Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
twice the price is a pretty big difference so thanks but I'm sticking with the juno if the action feels good. otherwise the Korg TR is also an option. The Alesis fusion looked great at first but after reading everything that changed real fast. Also, the one I saw in a store was displaying an error message on the screen - very scary!
I'll give a report after I see a juno G in the store.

Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
I just popped by the local Guitar Center. The keyboard room was empty and the store was slow (near closing time). Checked out:
Yamaha MO (not Motif)
Yamaha Motif ES
Korg TR
Roland Fantom Xa
Roland Fantom X
Korg Triton Extreme
All with the intention of maybe finding a lightweight 61 note keyboard to use on gigs. I must say ALL OF THE ACTIONS SUCK!
Especially the MO and TR. Xa not much better. Fantom-X is nice, but not nice enough to warrant the money, since I already have the Fantom X rack.
So I'll still be waiting.
Bottom line: Beware of the key action on these new cheaper, lighter-weight keyboards. Check 'em out first. The internet can't accomplish that (yet).

Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
yeah I ruled out the tr yesterday because of the action. some good sounds but some surprisingly poor for 2006.
fantom xa action also pitiful.
regular fantom pretty good action - agree price should come down though.
mo 6 still promising - decent action, great sounds and a boatload of them. sequencer scary though - I had a motif 7.
once again though if the juno has a good action - a big if, I know - that still is the most attractive to me.
btw, I played the alesis fusion again just for the heck of it and couldn't run away fast enough. not knocking alesis in general - I have a micron and love it and of course the andromeda rules but the fusion seems like a freakin' anchor.

On the Fusion
I was considering the G or the Xa but the 40GB drive and unlimited presets steered me to the Fusion. I am a Roland guy but the only thing that compares to the Fusion is the Oasys. No kidding. ADAT out, 8 channel recording, gigs of sample space, free Hollow Sun sounds, virtual analog, FM synthesis, physical modeling, sampling, etc. The only issue is the user interface. It's not as good as the FX (but the only one better than the FX is the Oasys). Fusion OS 2.0 will include external CDRW drivers. For $1000 nothing compares. Roland has great presets on the FX but limits you more afterwards. Good luck on your decision.
Re: JUNO-G VS Korg TR. im stuck!!!!!!
Just my experience..I wanted korg sound and looked the new TR..but i found a used triton extreme(160megas) by far superior only for a little more the price of the new TR(25 per cent)
I m very happy because it sounds very different of my fantom x!If you can do this with your fantom s maybe it's the best solution!
