Re: No linear sequencer

I wouldn't expect the Fantom-0 to have a better/different sequencer than the high end Fantom it is derived from... so I'm actually surprised to see it's 64 bars instead of 32. Maybe that upgrade is forthcoming for the Fantom. (Or did it happen and I missed it?)

More differences...

no aftertouch
No LED indicators on the left-side controls
no dedicated real-time synth controls (except filter)

Re: Split keyboard to stereo output

Unfortunately, this is a feature the VRs don't have. There is no function to assign sounds to a particular output, or to pan sounds to one side or the other. There is a 3rd-party editor that can add a bit of this functionality, but it is limited... it doesn't work if one of your sounds is organ, or ...

Well it does run from batteries. Does that help?

Re: JP-08 USB Power

I really wish Roland found a way to fix this on their end. This has plagued the Boutique's, since day 1. It's an inherent problem with USB, which is not ground isolated the way 5-pin MIDI jacks are. It has nothing to do with Roland, you can get it (or not) on all kinds of gear, depending on the env...

Re: Should Roland add a linear Sequencer?

https://www.roland.com/us/categories/synthesizers/performance_workstation/ Right on the web page... picking up from 13dka's post... That very page shows they are NOT calling it a workstation. That page has their performance and workstation boards. But each board has its own description. Fantom is c...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

Anotherscott, is there a way that the Juno's "Soft Through" setting can allow me to use both the USB port and the MIDI out simultaneously? Macbook is connected to Juno via USB hub, and Juno's MIDI Out goes to iPad via iRig Pro interface. I'm thinking that recorded MIDI data could trigger ...

Re: Should Roland add a linear Sequencer?

I dont see why not.. yamaha have managed it in a update with the montage. the fantom is way superiour in spec. montage started out with a linear sequencer and has now been complimented with the loop phrase sequncer. same approach tho in reverse from roland would be great. Montage still doesn't have...

Re: RD-88: MIDI IN?

Does it have any MIDI IN capabilities at all? For example, could I use a lighter-weight keyboard as a controller to use the RD88's organ sounds? Seems like a fairly straightforward and obvious functionality. As far as I can see, this is not possible, but I'd love to be proven wrong! The RD88 does h...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

Yes, my hub's powered but apparently not enough. Interesting. In my experience, usually they either work or they don't. What's the symptom you're seeing that tells you it's working, but needs more power? What I couldn't figure out is how to trigger iPad's Synth One app via the Juno if it's connecte...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

Anotherscott, this is a revelation! Thank you! Never thought to try a USB hub with the camera adapter. Nor was I aware of the free KeyStage Lite which is impressive. It does indeed work; i have the Vortex triggering AudioKit's SynthOne app while ForScore sends program change messages to the Juno DS...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

Hmm, not exactly what I'm going for. I was hoping to connect the Vortex's MIDI USB A wireless receiver to the MIDI Host box and then MIDI out from box to Juno in, and the Vortex plays Juno sounds wirelessly. Yes, that should work fine, it's what I said in my 9:07 am message that hasn't appeared yet...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

That may work. You connect your iPad into the USB MIDI port, then connect your USB Host MIDI OUT to your JunoDS MIDI IN port (using a 9DIN normal MIDI cable), then connect your JunoDS MIDI OUT to you Keytar MIDI IN, and then activate the MIDI Soft-thru option on your JunoDS's MIDI System configurat...

Re: Alesis Vortex 2 wireless MIDI and iPad USB in?

you will need an external device called "MIDI host". You then connect your iPad, your Juno and your Keytar to this MIDI host and then you should be able to control both from your iPad. A stand-alone MIDI host would give the keytar a 5-pin MIDI output. It could then connect to the Juno's M...

Re: FA 07 action

Coming from the integra 7, I assume the 2000 or more sounds are the Integra's most useful sounds! The Integra and the FA both have the SuperNATURAL Synth and the old XV-5080 sounds. They can also both load the SRX-based expansions (2 at a time on the FA, 4 at a time on the Integra). However, the In...
