I use the G7 as a master keyboard.
When purchased, I was the only keyboardist in my weekend gig but since then, we've added a second player so I can play more sax.
I got a good deal on a floor model G6 via Ebay and it's filling the bill for my weekend siutuation.

Sweetwater Sound is the acid test for cutting edge equipment. As soon as gear is outmoded, they drop it like a hot rock. The G series is still on their site and in their catalog.

I've been searching the web for either an X7 or G7 (I've got a G7 in the studio and recommended it.) They are none currently available on Ebay or Craig's List. Bottom line: It's what works for you!
I've got a room full of gear including a Motif Rack. If the G could do it all, I'd have no need for the Motif or the rest of the 1/2 ton of software & hardware.
